Nigerian Scammer Who Sold Fake Airport For £242 Million To A Bank

Former director of the Union Bank of Njgeria 'Emmanuel Nwude' was the nigerian scammer who sold fake airport to a bank for £242 million


In 1995, Nwude quit his job as the director of Union Bank of Nigeria, after he quit his job as the director of the bank, Nwude used inside information from his former job to pretend to be The Governor Of The Central Bank Of Nigeria 'Paul Oguwuma'(was then)

Emmanuel(pretending to be Oguwuma) convinced Nelson Sakaguchi(Former Director Of Brazil's Banco Norceste) to buy a stake in a Nigerian New Airport(which was to be built) In Abuja for around $242 million, Nelson Sakaguchi paid Nwude, who was pretending to be Paul Oguwuma, $191 million and $51 million in interest

Nelson Sakaguchi found out The Abuja Airport was just a fiction, Nwude and his accomplices(Amaka Anajamba, Emmanuel Ofolue, Nzeribe Okoli and Ohum Osakwe) figured it out and fled with the money, they got away with it until 2004, when he and his accomplices were brought before the High Court and charged with 86 counts of 'Fradulently Seeking Advance Fees' and 16 counts of 'Brbery'



The case was then moved to Lagos, there, Nwude attempted to bribe 'the head of the economic and financial crimes commission with $75,000 but could not escape justice, he was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment and had his assets confiscated and returned to the victim, because Nwude was a wealthy man, He did two years, was released from prison in 2006 and was ordered to pay $10 million fine to the Nigerian Government

The scam pulled by Nwude was the third largest case of banking fraud in the world and it popularised the ‘advanced fee fraud syndrome.’
